STUDENT RESIDENT ROOMS

At Rooms, all residents are provided with their own single occupancy rooms that are fully furnished and lockable. One student to each room - or in other words, you do not share the room with anybody else.

We provide the introductory service to bring new students together to share an apartment with other like minded students in order to save costs and find new friends in a new environment.

We have endeavoured to maintain a consistent standard design and amenities across all our residences managed. While there will be variations in actual room layouts, our residents are assured that all our rooms are comfortable, pleasant to live in and maintained to high standards. 

Room Facilities

All rooms are fully carpeted*, have natural light, ventilation and heated. Furnishings include fully sprung mattress, study desk with built-in desk light, chair, wardrobe, drawers, bookshelves, waste bins and even clothes hangers. Linen and blankets are available on loan for a nominal cost.  Every room is installed with a telephone point to enable access to a private number. Every room has an openable window to the external environment. 

Because we realise the two most important (most used) pieces of furniture are the chair and bed, we have supplied very good quality commercial quality equipment (e.g. Herman Miller chairs and Posturepedic beds) that are ergonomic and comfortable for long periods of use. An example of the detail consideration we have placed into our facilities.

In addition, ALL rooms have been pre-wired to the Internet via the in-house broadband network. (see computers). An individual set of crockery and cutlery are also supplied in every room to accommodate students with different religious requirements.

* for those unfortunate few who are allergic to carpets, we have some rooms fitted with hospital grade vinyl which allows for reduced allergen count. Subject to limted availability.

Room Size and amenity

Room size directly impacts the amenity of the living environment and most of our rooms exceed 11 sqm except for rooms in Walsh (Main) where room sizes are slightly smaller.

Non local applicants should note that the majority of rooms provided by some local providers are sometimes extremely small, restrictive (perhaps without even an open window) . It is important to ensure that they qualify this aspect before finalising your booking. It is a sad fact but even in a developed country like Australia, there is a loophole in building regulations that means unscrupulous developers are able to construct supposedly habitable rooms without ANY ventilation or windows to the outside environment.
